I'm reminded of a time almost 20 years ago when I desperately and somewhat sarcastically prayed outloud and got a specific sarcastic answer back instantly. Literally within 15 seconds of stopping my obnoxious, fearful rant of self pity to the empty night sky with nobody around for miles.
In absolute despair I took the advice of an annoyingly optimistic new friend that had NEVER been in a situation as precarious as mine was at the time, that had flippantly told me I just needed to stop freaking out (about being recently divorced and literally homeless, sleeping in my car with my dog, while also being over $700,000 in active debt from a failed formerly successful small business and a home foreclosure that the bank wouldn't accept a short sale offer on in 2008!) and instead, I was supposed to just ask God to send me *someone that I was uniquely qualified to help*. Full stop. That was apparently all I had to do according to this person.
No bargaining, no asking for help that I may truly and desperately need ("your needs are not something He doesn't already know about" and my acquaintance believed the absence of those things were what I really needed for some reason anyway).
"Just sincerely be ready and willing to help someone THAT ONLY YOU CAN HELP regardless of what's going on in your own life, and watch what happens."
I won't tell you what it was for me because it was very very personal, but just know that it was statistically impossible to be a coincidence. Both that it could appear in that very moment, but more importantly, that it was so crazily specific that I might literally have been the only person in the world that could have helped as much as I did, right then and there.
It also meet all the ridiculous criteria of my listed 'demands' in my sarcastic and detailed request of God as I described in detail how lowly a position I was in that it was going to be pretty hard for him to find someone that *I* could possibly help at that moment.
